Dec 14, 2022
THE NORWOOD will feature our staff in each Newsletter over the next few weeks.
THE NORWOOD wishes to introduce Oleh, who is working with the Norwood Legion in our kitchen.
Oleh and his family (wife Nadia, son Ivan (17), Marko (13), and Oleh (3), have come to Canada from the Ukraine in the latter part of 2022. Oleh has been working with THE NORWOOD for the past 2 months. He acquired his culinary expertise through formal education and many years of experience. His expertise is European and Ukrainian cuisine. Oleh has been instrumental in our catering to the special events at THE NORWOOD.
We have asked Oleh to prepare Traditional Ukrainian dishes using his authentic Ukrainian background and training, and we will also have Traditional Canadian Ukrainian dishes for Jan 6 and for Jan 7. Jan 6 will be Lenten type (meatless) meal and on Jan 7, we will have the meat dishes.
Our Jan 6 menu is Canadian Kutya, 3 Cabbage Rolls, 6 Perogies, and 2 Nalysnike. Also with the Ukrainian dishes are Baked Fish with Vegetables, Kutya with poppy seed and halva, and a Vinaigrette salad comprised of boiled beans, carrots, beets, potatoes, and sauerkraut.
$25.00 per plate. If you are going to the dance your admission is only $5.00.
Our Jan 7 menu is Canadian Kutya, 3 perogies, 3 meatballs, 3 cabbage rolls, 4 ounce serving of ham, and also the Ukrainian dishes rolled Roast Pork with mushrooms and cheese in a creamy sauce, Olivier comprised of Green Peas, boiled potatoes, carrots, sausage, egg mixed with Mayonnaise and pickled cucumber, and chicken kabab with vegetables.
$25.00 per plate. If you are going to the dance your admission is only $5.00.
Tickets are on sale now. Advance tickets only for both events. Phone 780-479-4277.
We hope to see everyone on these dates. It’s a great way to start the New Year.
ABOUT US
Our Story
The Royal Canadian Legion – Norwood Branch #178, received its Charter on February 23rd, 1946. It is a nonprofit organization designed to support veterans and their communities.
The building that houses the Branch was completed in 1958 with the majority of funding donated by members.
Like its parent organization, Norwood Legion has extended its interest beyond the care and welfare of veterans and their families, to the best interests of the community at large.
