Hello Everyone:

Our Members, Patrons, and Community continue to support THE NORWOOD.  We would not be here if it wasn’t for you.  Thank you so much for your support.

  • That time of the year has arrived again where we must honor those who have fallen and served.  Their ultimate sacrifice and contributions have allowed every one of us to enjoy our freedoms of today.  THE NORWOOD will have a Remembrance Day Ceremony which will start at 10:00 AM and go to 1130 AM.  If the weather is inclement or too cold, we will move our ceremony inside to the auditorium.  If the temperature is -9 or warmer, it will be outside, and at -10 or lower, we will move inside. We will have room for about 250 people.

Lunch from 1200 Noon to 1300.  Chili is being served. From 1 PM to 10 PM we encourage fellowship.

  • On November 12 at 4 pm, our silent auction will end. You can still go on-line and make a bid by clicking on the following link This is our first Auction and we are grateful to all that have donated. All successful bidders will need to pick up their winnings at the legion.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen:  I am proud to announce to you that the SPARKLING TONES will be playing at THE NORWOOD  on Nov 18 and Nov 19, Dec 16 and Dec 17, and also Jan 6 and Jan 7, 2023.  If you are tired of the regular 2 step events, I invite all of you to participate in our dances with the SPARKLING TONES.  Dwayne and his band provide an excellent variety of dance music.  Hot meals are available as per usual.  Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.  You will have a good time.

  • REAL CANADIAN WRESTLING will have shows on November 12, 26, and December 10.  They have been having really good events.  It is suggested to get your tickets early.
  • Vendor Connection is having their markets 2 times a month for November and December.  Nov 4-5 and Nov 18-19, Dec 3-4, and Dec 17-18.  Many good items for Christmas gifts.
  • PAINT NIGHT ON DEC 6.  Tickets are on sale right now for $35.00 which includes your supplies. Our guest artist will be Wendy Jansen from Concordia College.  You do not have to be artistically inclined to enjoy.  Wendy is suggesting a possible Christmas theme for the event painting.  She is a pleasant personality with a lot of experience.  We will have wine and cheese as well as other menu items.  ADVANCE TICKETS ONLY.  You can purchase the tickets in person or call 780-479-4277. Only 30 tickets are on sale for this event.
  •  FIDDLERS ROOST has their dances every Monday starting at 6 PM.  Their Open Mic invites many good talented artists.  A good variety for a great evening of entertainment. THE NORWOOD has meal specials available from 4 pm to 7 PM on every Monday.
  • This event is being organized by Mathew Patenaude.  Ticket prices and Band names will be determined at a later date. Watch for posters and our Webpage and Facebook.
  • THE NORWOOD Legion, once again extends invitations to all our members to participate in our General meetings.  Our Elections are due in the near future and it is important that you have your voice in the selection of your new executive.  Much hard effort and many hours of volunteer work have gone in to make this Legion a viable organization.  We have had a tremendous run in 2022, with a good forecast for the balance of the year.  We need to keep this momentum going.  It is imperative that we have your presence at our meeting for the selection of the Executive. You will be notified when the meeting will take place. Over the past year, I received many calls about the disappointment of the NORWOOD LEGION over past years.  We have made it better.  We would like to see no less than 50 people at these meetings.  They are informative. It’s your turn to show up.
  • Our Plan for 2023 is to build on the successes of 2022.  We installed new lighting in most of the areas, and updated some of our plumbing. We expanded our Band stage in the Ensign Room, which will be able to accommodate some of the bigger bands. Our membership is $55.  A really good price. This works out to 16 cents per day.  If you Google the webpage and go to member perks, you will see the benefits received from a membership.  Your membership also provides discounts at our local Legion events. Ask your friends and family to join.  I don’t know what one could buy for 16 cents anymore.

Our Story

The Royal Canadian Legion – Norwood Branch #178, received its Charter on February 23rd, 1946. It is a nonprofit organization designed to support veterans and their communities.

The building that houses the Branch was completed in 1958 with the majority of funding donated by members.

Like its parent organization, Norwood Legion has extended its interest beyond the care and welfare of veterans and their families, to the best interests of the community at large.
